Grants High School
Graduating Class of 1976
Bicentiennial Class
Ahoy! Avast ye matey! Arr!
This is a time that we respectfully pay an honorable tribute to our shipmates that left way too soon.
As we gather here as the Class of 1976 once more
To reminisce like years before
Upon the days of joy we knew
Before our school-aged time was through.
Yet, as we meet the memories near
We think of those always held dear.
Our friends and classmates passed away
To be with God and enjoy their day.
Until that hour when we join again
An empty chair we will maintain.
In Honor of the life-long bond
We forged with those now passed beyond.
The friends with whom we learned life's truth:
Whose bonds lasted far from our youth
And shall remain forever near
When we gather from year to year.
With Loving Memories
It is with honor and respect that we offer this Memoriam for our deceased classmates.
It is in the memories, which sometimes go back to early grade school, that we join the families of these friends in paying respect to their lives and how those lives touched us all.
Reading the names of our "class family", our "ship-mates", our friends, every name brings back a memory...a class, an activity, a date, a conversation, or a moment forever embedded in our eternal memory bank and planted deep inside our hearts, cherished forever.
It was a life long ago, though it seems as only yesterday. We were perched on the rim of the world, ready to jump in and make our mark Hopefully, every member of this list got to experience life's thrills.
A wedding, a spouse, a child, an accomplishment, a grandchild, an uncle, an aunt, Father, Mother, Grandfather, Grandmother, petting a new puppy or kitten, holding hands at the close of a good day...a pat on the back when they needed it most and friends in the final moments.
They were all an important part of our lives in the Uranium Capitol of the World, our little town, Grants, New Mexico, a railroad camp built in the 1880's, a logging town, the carrot capital of the United States, old U.S. Route 66, Interstate 40, and our dreams. Hopefully, those of us who remain will represent whose who are gone with loving pride and honor these memories that will make us all smile, laugh and remember that special time that was experienced and enjoyed before they were taken from this side of heaven.
And to those who have passed on without our knowledge...
Still Missing You
They say there is a reason
They say that time will heal,
But neither time nor reason
Will change the way we feel.
For no one knows the heartache
That lies behind our smile,
No one knows how many times
We have broken down and cried.
We want to tell you something
So there won't be an doubt:
You're so wonderful to think of
But so hard to be without.
We cannot bring the old days back,
When we were all together,
But the memories we made in school,
Will live in our hearts forever.
